The ingredients for making Easy Teochew Braised Meat Recipes

  1. 1 kilogram pork bellywith skin, trim into large pieces
  2. 1 tbsp sugar
  3. 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  4. 2 pieces fried beancurdalso known as tau-kwa, quadrigeminal
  5. 3 eggs shard-boiled, shelled
  6. Sauce:
  7. 1/4 cuplight soy saucepremium brand
  8. 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  9. one bulbgarlicwith skin intact
  10. five shallot swith skin complete
  11. 1 tsp jintan manisfennel seeds
  12. 1 tspjintan putihcumin seeds
  13. 2 cinnamon stay
  14. 3 star anise
  15. four cloves
  16. 1/2 tspchinese five spice powder
  17. 1 tsprock sugar
  18. 4 cupswater

Step-step making Teochew Braised Meat

  1. First, wash, cut and drain nicely the meat. Cut into 3/4 in . thick pieces and set aside.

  2. Cut each fried beancurd in to 4 pieces.

  3. In the pot of boiling water, hard-boil the eggs and remove the shells. Plus we’re ready to cook the meats!

  4. Over low heat, add oil and sugar to the wok. Melt the sugar slightly.

  5. Then add in light soy sauce and dark soy sauce.

  6. Next, add in the cut meats. On medium heat, cook until gently browned. Browning adds additional flavour to the stew.

  7. Then add in the garlic, shallots and combined spices. Stir to combine well.

  8. Cover the ingredients with water.

  9. Add rock sugar plus bring to a boil over higher heat.

  10. Reduce to reduced heat and simmer with lid upon for 20 minutes, or until the meat is tender.

  11. Add in chinese five spice powder.

  12. Then add the fried beancurd and hard-boiled eggs. Allow to simmer with lid on for another ten minutes. And we’re done!
